About
the Club:
The San Antonio Collector's
Club was founded in 1999 by Rick Sollers, who remains the club President
to this day. The club is a loosely associated group of "Joe Heads"
from the San Antonio area. We have members from all over the city
and surrounding area. Some of our faithful members live in San Marcos,
but still manage to make most of our meetings. We began as a group
of collectors who focused on vintage GI Joe items. When the new items
from 21st Century came along, it was clear we couldn't call ourselves an
"exclusively GI JOE" club, so we began calling ourselves the San Antonio
Collector's Club. Our members collect just about everything; vintage
GI JOE, AT Joes, 21st Century figures, Dragon figures, Blue Box fitures,
and all sorts of other 12" action figures. Our club boasts some of
the foremost customizers among our ranks, including Sean Castillo, who
can make about anything out of... about anything! Mike Cherry is,
of course, a customizer of renown, who specializes in personalized figures
and "enhanced" female figures. We get together the second Friday
of every month for our meeting wherein we review the latest happenings
in the 12" Action Figure collecting world, members show off their latest
kitbashes, customs, or anything else interesting, and we make plans for
our next diorama event. Our diorama events are the second Saturday
of every month. We've done everything from "Good v. Evil" to "D-Day
+1". Sometimes we try to be a little accurate, other times we just
have fun. If you'd like to learn more about our club, contact Rick
Sollers at (210) 675-4861. If you'd like to learn more about our diorama
events, contact Mike Cherry at (210)859-1222.
